One of the largest fresh water marinas in the southeastern United States, St. John's River Resort in Deland, Florida, is situated on the 330-mile long St. John's River, directly across from the Ocala National Forest. Famed for its bass fishing, St. Johns River is one of only 3 rivers in the nation that flows north and one of the "laziest" rivers in the world. Located only 30 miles from Orlando and Daytona Beach, St. John's River Resort enjoys spectacular seclusion and beauty making it an ideal escape from the busy lifestyle of the metropolitan city.
Offering 50 acres of waterfront land and with 20 acres to build up, St. John's River Resort will be developed into a waterfront resort community geared towards living a healthy lifestyle. The plans are to build 350 resort-style units and meeting rooms with all the amenities to be expected at an exclusive resort. Also envisioned are 150 public and private boat slips. Which would create the option for houseboat living; a fishing pier, fishing charters, paddleboat docking and river cruises, boat rentals, event facility rentals, a Dockmaster's general store, and a state of the art health club. The remaining 30 acres will be for environmental mitigation including eco-tourism.
Redevelopment of the marina will create an opportunity for the public to learn about the ecological treasures along the St. John's River by providing manatee and wildlife observation areas as well as an interpretative hiking trail system. The natural beauty of the area will be highlighted while also providing an environmentally sensitive resort. Redevelopment plans will also expand employment opportunities for residents of Deland and Volusia County while reestablishing low grade wetland communities and improving the water quality of the river basin.
While offering the perfect location for family getaways and leisurely seclusion, the resort will also be geared towards executive retreats, offering a wide array of programs including custom programs, open enrollment programs, thought leadership forums and speakers series events.
